Get Started
Synapse gives FTC robot code a typed pub/sub bus and a single dedicated hardware thread. Everything you write is either a topic (a named channel carrying values), a node (a class with annotated callbacks), or an OpMode (extends SafeOpMode, wires everything together).
The fastest path from zero to a running robot:
- Install — add
com.aaravlabs:synapse:0.4.0to your FTC project’sbuild.dependencies.gradle. - Write your first OpMode — a complete, copy-pasteable TeleOp that drives a motor from a stick.
- Build a full drivetrain — a robot-validated mecanum recipe with subsystem nodes.
Once the basics click, the two pages worth reading in full are:
- Architecture — how the four thread workers divide work, and why all hardware calls funnel through one thread. This is the single most important concept in the library.
- SafeOpMode — the base class you will extend in every OpMode, and the five hooks it gives you.
